Since we opened the Academy it has been heavily featured in the press - with features in regional and national newspapers and magazines, television and news appearances, and live radio interviews with Kerri as well. Recently the Academy has been heavily featured on the BBC for the work it is doing to help new models break into the industry whilst avoiding scams and being conned out of money. Kerri has become a spokeswoman for models rights, and her story has been seen by millions of people! Kerri has always offered help and advice to new models starting out in the industry throughout her career but was soon unable to keep up with all the messages, so she created a simple website full of advice on how to get started out in the industry, and called it The Kerri Parker Academy! There was never much advice Kerri could offer in a simple email, and so she has spent the last two years writing hundreds of articles and tips on how to get started out - and put them all in one easy place to browse! The Academy has since transformed from a tiny website to a nationwide modelling school, with Model Tutorial Days, portfolio shoots, beauty pageants...and much more! With the Academy's American launch with managers based in LA - the website is about to become a worldwide sensation, helping new models all over the globe get started out! We strongly suggest girls always do their research and never part with money without being 100% sure the company is legit. Kerri is a well known model and is always featured in the press for the good she is doing helping new models with the Academy. AVOIDING SCAMSSadly the industry is now full of scams - from portfolio scams to agency scams, with new companies springing up every day to try and con new models out of their money. Many companies are also run by people who know nothing of the modelling industry, who's advice can do more harm than good to your career. You'll also find sections on safety, and the many scams affecting new models - from agencies charging hundreds for you to join and then getting no work, to new beauty pageants springing up and charging hundreds of pounds to enter. There's also scams such as 'winning' a free makeover and photoshoot and then being pressure sold into spending up to a thousand pounds on images, and being told an agency will only take you on if you purchase one of their portfolio packages! Inside the Academy you'll find lots of information on the different types of scams and how to protect yourself from them, many models always comment they wish they found the website first before spending hundreds on portfolio images and training. You'll also find more information on how to avoid portfolio scams in our section here. The government report that later this year it will be made illegal for agencies to charge upfront fee's for joining them, however we believe they will still get round this by charging for other things. This could include portfolios which have to be done through them, training days, image resizing, comp cards and much more. If an agency wishes to con you then they will always find a way despite new government legislation stopping them from charging upfront fee's. |

Don't forget there are lots of fantastic jobs inside the Academy to apply for as well, including fashion and catwalk jobs, glamour and lads magazine appearances, and even television, grid girl, and promotional work as well to apply for!
